2018 Walker's Point Center for the Arts Member Exhibition

2018 Walker's Point Center for the Arts Member Exhibition

Back in September of 2017 I entered two pieces into the annual member show at the Walker's Point Center for the Arts in Milwaukee.

I have hidden my soul out of sight (2017)

No One at the Home Believed Dot Gale's Wild Stories of Her Youth (2016)

Each year at the member show, a juror picks four artists to have a member exhibition based on the art entered.  The juror this time was collage artist Della Wells, an artist whose work I have hanging in my house.  I was selected to be one of the four member exhibitors for 2018.  My dates are July 20th to October 6th.

Here is the art that makes up the exhibition.

Besides the joy of being able to share my art with my friends who showed up I was also able to act as a docent for the members of the public who dropped in for either the kid's art or because it was Gallery Night in Milwaukee.

Although it should not be about the sales, there is always a special joy when a piece sells to a stranger.  In this case, a friend of my friends Theodore B. Hertel, Jr., and Maggie Ley had a granddaughter in the theatre program the kid's put on during the opening.  They fell in love with this piece and will take it home after October 6th.

If you have any interest in purchasing any of the art, please contact Walker's Point Center for the Arts prior to October 6, 2018.  http://wpca-milwaukee.org/2018/07/creativediscoveries

Gallery hours are Tues–Sat, Noon–5 pm at 839 S. 5th St., Milwaukee, WI 53204.

My thanks to Della Wells (juror), Evan Froiland (Community Outreach Specialist) for helping hang the show and especially Marcela Garcia, Executive Director of Walker's Point Center for the Arts.
