I took this old washboard with me to a recent Make What Ya Brung at Shake Rag Alley but the only thing I ended up doing there was to pop off the metal scrubbing surface from the board. When I bought this at a antique store recently I had visualized using the spaces on the board as a tryptic frame for an old photo that I had.
This big old photo is dated 189? with the last digit missing. It is two sided with a family portrait on one side. But I like this academic looking photo despite someone scrawling over it with pencil--when this mark making was done will never be able to be revealed.
When I got home I got to work.
Thus we have Dictation Practice. It is 25" H X 13" W X 2" D. It consists of a Washboard, 189? Photograph, Hazard Powder Company Gun Powder Can, Toothed Metal Part, Plaster Cast, Paper and Paint.
