Monday we spent driving around the Smokey Mountains.
Primitive Baptist Church
As we were driving in a line of tourists on the scenic drive the truck in front of us slammed on his brakes. By the time we were stopped, we saw what he wanted to see sitting near the passenger side front wheel of our van: a mother bear and her cub. Pretty soon our van was being used as a shield by all the tourists behind us who all wanted to see the bear. I was not brave enough to get out of my van and shoot any pictures but I did manage to get the top of the cub as the two headed back up into the woods. Pretty damn cool experience to see a bear even if no photos were managed.
We came upon a herd of elk from a farm either escaped or allowed to roam wild. These guys were along the highway so they made easy models for the photo shoot.
As an assemblage artist I appreciated the banking along the river made from old cars.
Next stop: Louisville.
