Teatro Diabolico: 2017 in Oaxaca, Mexico with Michael deMeng: Dia Once

Thursday, November 2nd

Today after breakfast I decided to take one more walk to the Templo de Santo Tomas Xochimilco,

Roaming around Oaxaca can be so cool.

A group of us decided to go to the Jardín Etnobotánico de Oaxaca (ethnobotanical garden) for a guided tour.

Here is some of the gang hangin' in the gardens.  The shot was taken from on top of the structure pictured below--a man made rain forest that is designed to grow plants but save water.

 I believe this has come up before but...Mexico has big-ass spiders.

Lunch today was at Tierradel Sol Casa Restaurante.

Next we went the Museo Textil de Oaxaca (Oaxaca Textile Museum).  The gorgeous textiles in the main exhibit were by Luciana Corres.   There also were quilts by Bill Stecher and an exhibition of La Imagineria de Las Molas.  

We tried to find other museums but they were closed for the holiday.  I then did a little walkabout.

I then meet Marilyn, Teresa and Kristen for some shopping, then went to the hotel to pack.

Tonight the group is heading out to the cemetery at San Felipe.  Some of us went in Dia de los Muertos makeup.

When we got back from the cemetery it was time for the farewell dinner at Catedral Restaurante.

Then it was time for one more walkabout Oaxaca on my last night in town.

Friday, November 3rd

Today it was leaving time in Oaxaca.  I shared a cab with Kristen, Teri, Michael to get to the airport.  My departure was 12:21 p.m. from Oaxaca to Mexico City.  Out of Mexico City at 5:55 p.m. and on the ground at Chicago's O'Hare field at 11:00 p.m.  Denice was nice enough to pick me up and we were home in our own bed by 1:00 a.m.

So all that is left is to thank Colleen Darling for her organizational abilities, Michael deMeng for his superior teaching skills, and all my fellow travelers for another great experience.
