2023 08 Keystone Kindly

I was off to Shake Rag Alley in Mineral Point, WI, for a workshop called New Dimensions in Collage taught by my art buddy Gail Willert on September 23 & 24, 2023.

Here is the workshop description: "This is a fun class in which you will be enriching the surface of your collages by exploring ways to add depth and texture to your work. Instead of being confined to the flat collage plane, we will be playing with many ways to enhance the surface space — from embossing and molding clay elements that will be attached, to exploring many techniques to shape, alter and texture paper and fabric. This will lead to a new way to dynamically activate your art work into 3-dimensional space."

Day One: Used molds with Paper Clay and Aves Epoxy

Day One: Momigami Papers

Day One: Tissue Papers

Day One: 98lb Watercolor Papers

Day Two we used mark making to enhance the papers we made on Day One. Then it was time to collage.

This was as far as I got at the end of the two days.

Here is the progress I made on the piece after I got home.

Thus we have Keystone Kindly. It consists of a collage of momigami and decorated papers on a cradle board with a frame plus a piece from a hornet's nest and a clay mold. It is 15"H X 12"W X 3"D.
