This assemblage project began with the idea of layers: could I create a piece that layered the substrates?
Here are the pieces I started with
I added these two decorative posts to the first substrate
I added some wire to this substrate
The second substrate was attached and then some texture was added
I began to paint the substrate--these first coats always look so lame
I picked this wrestler toy and a deer spine to create my figure
Thus we have The Constant Count of Days All Geared Toward the Death That Will Be One Day Your Own. It is 20"H X 13"W X 5"D. It consists of Wood Board, Wood Knick Knack Shelf, Wood Spindles (2), Wrestler Toy Doll, Deer Spine, Drawer Handle, Clock Face, Pins (15), Metal Wheel, Plastic Wings, Nylons, Metal Wire, Christmas Tree Light, Sari Ribbon, Lace, Paper and Paints.
The title comes from a line of poetry, It’s Hard Enough To Live Deliberately Without The Constant Count Of The Days All Geared Toward The Death That Will Be, One Day, Your Own, from the poem Horizon’s Lens: My Time On The Turning World by Elizabeth Dodd.
