2026 03 She Was a Nocturnal Beauty Who Faded in Daylight

I recently got home from Oaxaca, Mexico, where I had a chance to go to the Museo de los Pintores Oaxaquenos (Museum of Oaxacan Painters) to see an exhibit called Carga Emocional (Emotional Burden) by Julien de Casabianca. He is a French and Corsican artist. He is currently collaging works of art on abandoned objects and I really fell in love with his technique and tone. By cutting the images from actual works of art he is able to attach the images and retain a very pastoral feel to the collaged linen.

From my stash I decided to mimic one of the simpler type of assemblages by de Casabianca by using a jewelry case that is from the collection of William H. Doelele Jeweler of Philadelphia. Unfortunately I could not find out anything about this jeweler on the Internet.

Thus we have She Was a Nocturnal Beauty Who Faded in Daylight. The title comes from the Gordon Parks' poem, A Choice of Weapons. It is 6"H X 4"W X 3"D. It consists of a William H. Doelele Jeweler Jewelry Case, Cardboard, Paper, Image and a Metal Round.
