Sometimes its just a hunk of wood--in this case, a vintage bread board with a little wonky shape--that just might be a home made job.
What made me grab a flat boring surface was that I wanted to do some mixed media collage. I am pretty happy with the results even though I most likely will cover up most of it with something else.
Sure enough, this old wood level (or possibly a T-square) came out of the stock in the basement and proved to be what I was looking for. I added the chain to what really looks like the old wooden cross. Then I found what I think is a tin matchstick holder for the base.
After more collaging and some painting, the project was done.
I cut these words out of an old book and played around with them until they form a poem which will also work as the title.
Thus we have Pleasant Thing, Brown and Bare, Almost Dead. It is 25" H X 8" W X 4" D. It consists of a Bread Board, Level, Match Holder, Chain, Frame, Cabinet Card, Paper and Paint.
