We are up at 5:30 a.m. to begin our first real day of this Road Scholar adventure. Our schedule offered us a 6:45 a.m. time to make our pack lunch for later in the day. Our breakfast was at 7:00 a.m. because we needed to be on the bus by 7:45 a.m.
From our basecamp at The Episcopal Conference Center, Oakhurst, it is a forty-five minute bus ride to the Yosemite Park entrance and then another forty-five minute drive to our first stop.
Today’s concentration is on Yosemite Valley with our first stop at Tunnelview to get oriented to the valley and to take a photo at one of the most photographed spots in the park.
Today we get our first exercise hiking into the Upper, Middle, and Lower Yosemite Falls trails.
We ate our sack lunch at the Yosemite Lodge. After lunch we were off on Happy Isles.
The group visited the Ahwahnee Hotel, a vintage hotel built for the luxury trade of old that still costs a mint to stay in.
We finished our hike along this beautiful waterway.
Dinner was at 6:00 p.m. tonight. Following that was a presentation by one of the most unique people I have ever heard: rock climber Ken Yager. What a hoot!
