Our first breakfast at Hume Lake this morning was at 7:30 a.m. with a departure time of 8:15 a.m. In keeping with the whole trip, we are in for a hour bus ride before reaching Sherman Tree Trail in the Sequoia National Park. From the moment we arrived through tomorrow it will be evident that we are now amongst the Big Trees.
The General Sherman Tree
Rosemae and Chris Crawford
We continued down the Congress Trail loop.
We went to Pinetree Picnic Area for lunch. After lunch we went to some acres of land that had burnt by a fire (Round Meadow?). This is also the home of Clara Barton and Susan B. Anthony trees.
If you can't understand how big these trees are, check out the people on the path in front of it
After visiting the Giant Forest Museum our ride home was as spectacular as the ride up.
Dinner at Hume Lake was at 5:30 p.m. Tonight we saw a performance by Frank Helling called A Visit With John Muir: The Scootcher of a Lifetime. I proved to be good theater and the perfect way to end our visit to the land he loved so much.
