Today we were up at 6:00 a.m. and on our way to a fun and unique breakfast spot, The Toasted Rooster.
Our first stop of the day was the Aerospace Museum of California. This museum has an interior aspect but the real highlight is the planes outside on the tarmac. However, I must admit that many of these planes are in pretty sad condition.
Our second stop was the Leland Stanford Mansion, home to a governor of California and the owner of a railway enterprise that helped build the continental railroad. See, ours is not the only time politicians were both government officials presiding over their own personal wealth package.
No photos are allowed in the mansion so you will have to use your imagination.
While you are at it, you can use your imagination here too because our next stop did not allow photos either. We went to the California State Indian Museum. This is a rather small and humble place but there are plans in the works to build a much larger and more representative facility in the future.
Walking around we found Beers Books, a huge, very clean and well organized used shop and conjunction with Kicksville vinyl record shop. I bought a small vintage book which should modify real well when I get home. We went to an area of Sacramento that has a number of vintage stores but the only thing that drew my attention was a curry comb that I am not really sure is even old.
After last night’s experience, we canceled tonight’s reservation and drove north to Woodland where we checked into a Staybridge Suites. Man, these are Hilton properties, super nice and we have a full kitchen and a walk-in closet.
Dinner tonight was at the surprisingly good Kitchen428. Our waitress was not only good in her recommendations for food there but gave us a tip for tomorrow in Mendocino.
Mileage for the Day: 67
Mileage for the Trip: 524

Before we left Sacramento, I had to make a stop along the highway across from our hotel where, for some unknown reason, the railroad company has stored these cars for the community to scribble on.
